| Bay State Concerto Competition
March 8th through 9th, 2008 Atlantic Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce its 3 rd Annual concerto competition for young artists. In keeping with the ASO’s mission of serving the greater Boston community by presenting orchestral music of the highest quality, the goal of the competition is to identify and encourage gifted young artists and provide them with opportunities to advance their careers in music. The competition is open to pianists and any orchestral instrumentalists between the ages of 18 and 30 (on the day of the competition). The applicants must prepare all movements of the selected concerto listed in the application; no repertoire changes will be allowed after the submission of the application. The competition is organized in three stages. In the first round, the competition committee will review the applications. If you do not receive an invitation to the second round of the competition, the applicant will receive a reimbursement of half of the application fee. During the second round of the competition, the invited applicants will be asked to perform their chosen repertoire without accompaniment in a closed blind audition setting in Boston, Massachusetts. The third and final round of the competition will be held in front of a live audience in Hingham, Massachusetts. Those who advance to this third round will be required to provide their own pianist to accompany them. While the judges deliberate, meet the competitors and celebrate the results at an awards party immediately following the competition. The applicants may only apply for two consecutive years for the competition. The concert repertoire and schedule for the winners will be at the sole discretion of Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. | 1st Prize: | $1,200 cash prize and a performance with the HSO |
| 2nd Prize: | $500 cash prize and a performance at HSO Chamber Concert |
| 3rd Prize: | $300 cash prize All applications must be received by February 23, 2008 |
| Applications will be available beginning September 2007 | |
